High school students from the Balearic Islands measure the current profile of the beaches of the Islands. 22 schools participate in this project called SeCosta, an initiative designed by the scientists of the Balearic Oceanographic Center.
It is an example of what is called citizen science.
The goal is to be prepared and adapt to the effects of climate change. The scientists expect to be able to show the outcomes in May. These researchers say that this will serve not only to raise awareness among students about climate change, students will also realize the impact of their contribution, initiating them in this way into the world of science.
